Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) was born on 18th May 1947 on the eve of the Indian Independence. Dr. Hira Lal Roy, the great visionary and pioneer of Chemical Engineering Education in India, along with few other senior colleagues felt the need for a platform to spread education of Chemical Engineering in India. On the 75th year of India’s Independence, the whole country is celebrating “Azadi ki Amritmahotsav” with a humongous goal of “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”. Self-reliant and confident India will eventually ensure a sustainable movement of Chemical Engineering profession through academic excellence, research & development and industrial revolution.

Today with around 30,000 members on its roll, Institute has emerged on the apex body of Chemical Engineering Professionals in India . The activities of the Institute are spread across the country through its 42 Regional Centres and more than 168 student chapters. The Regional Centres promote and complement the activities and objectives of the Institute – within their respective territorial limits by organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, refresher courses, counseling sessions, and guiding career planning etc. The institute is recognized by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.

Platinum Jubilee Celebration - 2022

Both Indian Institute of Chemical Engineering and the Nation India celebrate their 75th Anniversary year of Foundation in 2022. Ever since its foundation, the mission of IIChE was to contribute to the Nation building through dissemination of knowledge and enhancement of skill in the Chemical Engineering and its allied fields. Inspite of a challenging path, IIChE has been always steadfast in its role. Today the Organization has emerged as a premier professional platform for Chemical Engineering Education and Profession in India, having a Pan India outreach.

CHEMCON 2022

IIChE spreads the message and movement of Chemical Engineering by conducting classes and conferences throughout the year in regular interval. However, its annual event which is known as Chemical Engineering Congress (CHEMCON) stands out tall owing to its wide reach across National and International forum. CHEMCON provides an opportunity for all senior students of Chemical Engineers, research scholars, professors, industry experts to come together ensuring four days of intensive interface of knowledge and experience. These exchanges of thoughts and theories help all delegates to constantly update and equip themselves in a fast-changing scenario which calls for research and development in Chemical Engineering applications. CHEMCON 2022 will be 75th Annual Session of IIChE and will be organized by Kanpur Regional Centre. After many decades, CHEMCON is coming to Kanpur , the industrial city of Uttar Pradesh State.

CHEMCON 2022 will present a host of events, which includes memorial lectures, plenary lectures, seminars, panel discussions, international symposium, industrial exhibitions etc. It’s a matter of great honour and privileged for Patron and Members of NOC and LOC to invite you to participate in the thought-provoking deliberations in this flagship event of IIChE.

Kanpur Regional Centre, IIChE

Kanpur has been a major city of the state of Uttar Pradesh having reputed technical education centres. Kanpur Regional Centre of IIChE was established on and resulted as one of the oldest regional centres in India. KRC has now over 100 nos. regular members from various educational institutions and industries. A membership drive is presently on, to maximize number of members before CHEMCON 2022. All the major industries and organizations located in and around Kanpur are the benevolent contributors through distinguished membership of the centre apart from the research scholars, professors of Chemical Engineering. Presently the Regional Centre operates from the East Campus administration building of Harcourt Butler Technical University.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur was established in 1959 and in one of the premier institutions founded by Government of India. The aim of the institute is to provide meaningful education, to conduct original research of the highest standard and to provide leadership in technological innovation. Vision statement of IIT Kanpur is “to create, disseminate and translate knowledge in science, engineering and allied disciplines that will best serve the society.” Its mission is to pursue excellence in education, research and innovation.

IIT Kanpur has a sprawling 1055 acres campus and is a residential institute. It thrives on -

Harcourt Butler Technical University

Harcourt Butler University is a State Government Sponsored University located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The HBTU was named after Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler, the then Governor of the United Provinces in British India. It is one of the oldest engineering education centres in the country. As a member of Education Council to Viceroy, Sir Harcourt Butler first proposed a technical education institute in 1910 in the industrial city of Cawnpore (Kanpur) to teach Chemistry & allied Chemical Sciences.

In 1920, to boost entrepreneurship, accelerate industrial development, create a sound environment for contemporary applied research and inculcate scientific research, an institute in the name of Government Research Institute was started. On 25th November 1921, the then Governor Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler formally laid the foundation of the present main administration building of the institute. In 1928, the institute was renamed as Harcourt Butler Technological Institute. However, as of 1st September 2016, it was granted a university status and renamed again as Harcourt Butler Technical University under the HBTU Act, 2016 passed by Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh.

In the year 2021, HBTU completed glorious 100 years of its foundation. The centenary year is being celebrated in befitting manner by organizing seminars and conferences including the much-awaited CHEMCON 2022. HBTU has been a premier technical institute in the country especially in the field of Chemical Technology and Chemical Engineering.

The university is located in Nawabgunj area of Kanpur and is spread over two campuses, namely East & West campuses, constituting a total of 348 acres. The university is mostly residential and offers UG & PG courses in variety of engineering and chemical technology streams.

University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET)

University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) Kanpur was founded in 1996. This is a premier engineering institution located in Kanpur. It is an autonomous institute under the administration of Chhatrapati SahuJi Maharaj University, erstwhile known as Kanpur University. It is a self-financed institute. A team of dynamic and dedicated faculty members work relentlessly to impart best education to students of the Institute. Over the years, modern infrastructure has been developed to cater to the latest improvement in the field of engineering.

The institute is set amidst the university campus over 265 acres of land. UIET offers UG engineering courses in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science & Metallurgical Engineering. UIET is celebrating 25th years (Silver Jubilee year) of its foundation in 2021.

Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped, Kanpur

Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped was established in 1997 with World Bank Assistance. AITH is an autonomous institute established under the Department of Technological Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The institute is located at Awadhpuri and spread over 15 acres of land. The Institute offers admission to diploma in Computer Science and Architecture and undergraduate courses to Handicapped (Divyang) and other students in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, and Information Technology. AITH is affiliated to DR. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. AITH will celebrate 25th year (Silver Jubilee Year) of its foundation in 2022.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) was set up in 2007 by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India, through the Act of the Parliament. The Institute has been accorded the eminence of being an Institution of National Importance along the lines of the IITs. The Institute is empowered to award degrees in its own right. The Institute is co-promoted as an energy domain specific institute by six leading oil public sector units (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Oil India Limited, Gail (India) Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited) in association with the Oil Industry Development Board. The Institute is associating with leading International Universities/Institutions specializing in the domain of Petroleum Technology and Energy.

The prime objective of the Institute is to provide excellent education, training, and research to roll out efficient human resources, and to meet the growing requirements of the Petroleum and Energy sector.

The Institute is located at Jais, Amethi on Raebareli-Sultanpur highway. It has a state-of-art infrastructure, equipped with advanced research facilities, and promotes research and innovation starting from undergraduate level. The Institute offers a number of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, Postgraduate diploma courses and Doctoral programs in Science, Engineering and Management.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University ( AKTU), Lucknow

Formerly Uttar Pradesh Technical University ( UPTU ) is a State Government run affiliating university located in Jankipuram, Lucknow. It was established on 8th May 2000. There are approximately 800 colleges affiliated to this University. As a technical university, it imparts programs of education, research and training in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Town planning, Pharmacy, applied arts and crafts. It is one of the largest technical universities in India and Asia. The university envisioned to facilitate and nurture quality technical education and research in its own premises as well as all affiliated institutions. At present around 400,000 students are enrolled in its programs.
